When Sheila moved to Radford House in Exeter in November 2025,...
Adlington Retirement Living is celebrating a major milestone after completing the sale of its 1000th apartment at The Sidings in Lytham, completed by new homeowner Pat.
Roger and Pat watched Lytham’s Adlington Sidings site develop only minutes away from their previous home. Meanwhile, The Sailings in Southport was newly opened and they were impressed visiting as first homeowners arrived there, late in 2019.
It seemed ideal as Pat, a keen fell walker, was recovering from a leg injury and the idea of independent living whilst enjoying discreet support appealed, should it be needed. Lytham was the obvious choice, but as so often happens, their decision was deferred and Roger’s health deteriorated, yet all the time they kept in touch with The Sidings.
Sadly, earlier in 2026, Roger died and almost immediately there was interest in their house, bought in 2002, although Pat had no plans to leave. But both the immediate community and circumstances had changed and the familiarity of The Sidings became support during her decision to purchase and move, opening Pat’s horizons to new possibilities.
The part exchange service made the process much more straightforward, efficiently completing the sale and the practicalities of moving to a smaller property were also supported with professional advice.
Moving day was simple. Downsizing realistically to suit new circumstances was seamless and Pat is settling into her new home which will suit her needs as time passes and, for the present, is close to the people and places she is familiar with, plus her new community. In Pat’s words, “It’s been a roller coaster year, yet I’m so glad I kept going and followed the initial idea we had to join The Sidings. The happy memories I had in our previous home are helping me settle into a promising future here.”
Phil Holyoak, Sales Director at Adlington Retirement Living, said: “Completing our 1000th apartment sale is a significant milestone for the business and for everybody who has played a part in reaching it over the years.
“Our communities are designed to help people maintain their independence, stay connected and enjoy later life, with the reassurance that additional support is available should they need it in the future. We’re incredibly proud that so many people have chosen to make an Adlington community their home.”
The milestone comes as The Sidings approaches a sell-out, with just one new apartment now remaining. Find out the latest availability by clicking here.
