Adlington hosts VIP visit from Anna...
Last week we hosted a VIP visit to our retirement community...
After living in a family home for many years, it can seem daunting to consider leaving that all behind and moving into an apartment. However, our homeowners have all found that making the move to one of our communities has been a positive and liberating one.
Angela and Tim, Adlington Retirement Living homeowners, said: “One of the reasons that we decided to come here was because it had the size of rooms and number of rooms in an apartment that we thought we could be happy in.
“We went to one or two other communities, but you couldn’t get a three-bedroom property without stairs anywhere else. When we walked into the three-bedroomed show apartment, there was so much space. We liked the fact that it was big and airy and so light, with the windows and the balconies. We’ve got two balconies, one in the living room and one in our bedroom. The gardens are lovely too.”
Adlington homeowners Margaret and Keith, who moved to The Spindles in Menston, have plenty of room in their new apartment, and enjoy using the communal facilities as an extension of their home.
Keith: “We have two bedrooms plus a study, and we’ve got a big living room. Our main bedroom is bigger than the one we had in our bungalow. We’ve made our second bedroom into a dining room, so we brought our dining table and everything. It’s nice and if anybody comes to stay, there’s a guest suite that we can book them into, which is fantastic.
“We visited a few retirement communities, but we didn’t like the apartments. When we visited The Spindles, we looked at one another and said, ‘this is nice’. It oozed luxury and comfort, it’s like living in a five-star hotel.”
Keith: “The support you get with your move is fantastic too. We had a lady called Sarah from the Senior Move Partnership come to help us declutter. She was fantastic.
Margaret: “She measured up our furniture, checked if it would fit in the new apartment and created a plan.”
Keith: “On moving day she sent us off to enjoy a meal in the restaurant while she unpacked everything for us.”
Margaret: “It was fantastic.”
Keith: “We had no stress at all. We had a handyman to help us put the pictures up and everything. It was marvellous. We felt settled within the first week. Moving here was the best thing we did.”
Our homeowners have the best of both worlds. In addition to the privacy of their own peaceful and spacious apartment, they are also able to enjoy the communal facilities as an extension of their home. There’s a coffee lounge, restaurant*, homeowners’ lounge, hair salon*, therapy suite* and activities studio, as well as a guest suite with en-suite bathroom for visiting friends and family who wish to stay overnight.
Dr Trevor, an Adlington homeowner at The Sidings in Lytham, said: “I am so, so pleased I came. There’s a good sense of community and I’ve made some good friends since I’ve moved here. I settled in right away. I amazed myself at how quickly I felt at home, and I got on speaking terms with quite a few people in the first few days.”
“I eat in the restaurant two or three times a week and I have my hair cut in the salon here. One of the homeowners has just started some of us playing chess again, I had about three games last week in the homeowner’s lounge and the coffee lounge and that was very good. We have speciality gala nights every six weeks or so and we’ve started a pétanque club on a Sunday morning.”
Across our communities, we offer stylish one, two and three-bedroom apartments in a safe and secure environment. All apartments include quality, fully fitted kitchens with integrated appliances. Many feature en-suite shower rooms as well as separate bathrooms, and most have walk-out balconies or a private patio area overlooking the landscaped gardens. The gardens themselves are beautifully manicured and maintained, offering plenty of opportunities to relax in peaceful surroundings, with seating areas, thoughtful pathways and a heated, fully lit summer house to enjoy.
The 24-hour on-site support team provide homeowners with added peace of mind and, if needed, optional personal care packages can be tailored to individual needs. In addition to this, there is a sophisticated emergency call system and a security video entry system to manage access.
Alexandra Johnson, Sales and Marketing Director for Adlington Retirement Living, said: “Our award-winning approach to independent living, offers a luxurious lifestyle in beautiful surroundings, with the highest standards of service. Our homeowners don’t have to compromise on their lifestyle, their social life or their independence.
“We aim to provide a community spirit, whilst promoting independence and individual respect, so our homeowners can thrive and feel their best, enjoying spending time doing the things they love. We provide an opportunity to become part of a thriving community of like-minded people, with a shared outlook and a sense of belonging.”
Adlington Retirement Living has won Seniors Housing Scheme of the Year for two consecutive years, and was crowned Seniors Housing Developer of the Year at the HealthInvestor Seniors Housing Awards 2022.
