A retired primary school teacher from Cheadle, Stockport, has been working out with her personal-trainer grandson, as part of her weekly fitness regime.

Sandra, aged 82, lives at an Adlington Retirement Living community, where her 24-year-old grandson, Adam, visits twice a week to complete fitness training sessions together.

Sandra said: “I was a primary school teacher before I retired and when I was working, I would go swimming regularly, which I enjoyed. Since retiring and moving, I have so much more free time that I’ve been able to take part in more fitness activities. I now attend aquacise classes on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, as well as my personal training sessions with Adam.”

Adam, who has been a personal trainer for nearly four years, arrives equipped with weights and resistance bands, ready to put his grandmother through her paces. Together they work out for 45 minutes to an hour, twice a week, using a combination of strength training and cardio exercises.

Adlington Retirement Living communities offer new friendships, social occasions and safe activities on your doorstep that you can dip into whenever the mood takes you.

Alexandra Johnson, Sales and Marketing Director for Adlington Retirement Living said: “The goal of our retirement communities is to support homeowners in maintaining their independence and enjoying their retirement to the full. Sandra is an inspiration to us all. Keeping active is invaluable, especially in later life. It’s also great to see the bond between Adam and Sandra and the fun that they have together.”
