Unprecedented success as downsizers drive sales at local retirement development

Adlington, local builder of properties designed specifically for the over 60s, is celebrating tremendous success after its Otley development is set to become the quickest-selling site in the company’s 10-year history. With the building completed at the end of October last year, now only one of the properties at the luxurious Bridge Street development is still available, only six months after sales launched.

As family homes remain in high demand across the region, Adlington’s retirement developments go some way to addressing concerns raised in the recent Housing Whitepaper, by providing the older generation with the opportunity for independent living in a suitable environment, freeing up larger homes that often cost dearly, as owners pay to heat empty bedrooms and struggle to maintain large gardens, broken boilers and council tax bills.

Greg Mulholland, MP for Leeds North West, who visited the development recently, commented: “It was great to visit Adlington House, which provides very attractive new accommodation for over 65s in Otley and helps address this need. The team that built Adlington House did a great job and it is a very attractive addition to Bridge Street. I take great pleasure in congratulating Adlington the whole team on delivering a very positive development that enhances our local area, both visually and socially.”

Phil Holyoak, Sales Manager at Adlington House, commented: “We have been overwhelmed by the levels of interest in the site and have very much enjoyed bringing the Adlington product to West Yorkshire home buyers.

“We always thought that there was a great deal of demand in the town for a new retirement facility but to have all our apartments reserved within four months of the development being built is a new record for Adlington. The 24-hour on-site care & support option, provided by our partner MHA (Methodist Homes), has been a big selling point for many of our homeowners.  The trusted charitable organisation has been providing care and support for more than 70 years across the UK and will be on hand to support any residents if and when they might need a little extra help. We are continuing investment and building new retirement communities across the North throughout 2017, and hope to be able to deliver positive experiences to the many homeowners that can benefit from retirement living in this way.”

Located on the corner of Bridge Street and Mill Lane, Adlington House delivers a selection of superbly-appointed one, two or three bedroom apartments with tailored 24-hour on site care and support for homeowners, should it ever be needed. The design of each Adlington apartment is carefully considered with safety and security in mind, and an exceptional quality of materials and finishes is delivered throughout. Homeowners enjoy generous living and dining spaces, fully-fitted, quality kitchens and a balcony or patio to their apartment, as well as use of a spa suite offering a variety of relaxing treatments. There is also a table-service restaurant offering a tempting deli menu, breakfasts and a three-course lunch daily, a hairdressing salon, sociable lounge area, as well as an activities and crafts room for everything from gentle exercise to art classes.
