Local developer, Adlington, has donated £2,000 to Staffordshire Wildlife Society to cover the full cost of adding mobility scooter friendly access gates to the Doxey Marshes Nature Reserve.

Adlington, which has started work on its Brooklands House development adjacent to the site, has been working with Staffordshire Wildlife Society to help make the Doxey Marshes Nature Reserve their flagship site for people with mobility needs. The site is already very accessible from the town centre and naturally flat, and the society has previously installed benches to offer plenty of resting points for visitors, also upgrading the paths so they are much smoother than the typical paths found on similar sites.  The newly installed mobility scooter friendly access gates will provide easy access for elderly and disabled visitors, whilst still acting as a barrier for cars and motorbikes.

James Dennison, Fundraising and Membership Manager at Staffordshire Wildlife Society, commented: “We were thrilled to receive the donation from Adlington, allowing us to install access gates making the Doxey Marshes much easier to enter for those using mobility scooters. We’ve done a lot of work with the nature reserve in previous months to ensure this can become our flagship site for those in the local community with mobility needs, so we definitely say a very big thank you to the Adlington team for their generosity.”

Claire Reede, Sales and Marketing Manager at Adlington, added: “Our development in Stafford overlooks the beautiful Doxey Marshes, so we are happy we’ve been able to work with the Staffordshire Wildlife Society to help make the nature reserve a more accessible site. Homeowners at Brooklands House will no doubt enjoy the close proximity to this stunning area, so it is an absolute pleasure to contribute to the management of the site in this way.”

Brooklands House is situated on Eccleshall Road in Stafford and will consist of 55 superbly appointed one, two and three bedroom apartments, along with elegant communal spaces, exclusively for the over 65s.  The Marketing Suite is now open Tuesday to Saturday between 10am and 5pm, with a selection of exquisite show apartments available to view in November. Delivering independent living with tailored 24-hour on site care and support for homeowners, should it ever be needed. Adlington’s apartments are carefully designed with safety and security in mind, and an exceptional quality of materials and finishes are delivered throughout. Homeowners will enjoy generous living and dining spaces, fully-fitted quality kitchens and a balcony or patio to their apartment, as well as use of a spa suite offering a variety of relaxing treatments.
