Benefits of buying new

As energy prices climb and the cost of living crisis fills us all with trepidation, it’s reassuring for our homeowners to know that they’re living in some of the most energy-efficient dwellings in the country.

Earlier this year, the Home Builders Federation released a report that showed buyers of new build homes in the UK save £112 million every year.

The ‘Greener, Cleaner, Cheaper’ report, found that new build homes are saving buyers money and cutting emissions. It found that 84% of new build properties received an A or B EPC rating for energy efficiency, while just 3% of existing properties reached the same standard. In contrast, 58% of existing dwellings had an efficiency rating of D-G.

Energy efficient, low maintenance living

At Adlington Retirement Living, we go to great lengths to make our communities as energy efficient as possible so that our homeowners can enjoy a warm and cosy environment without worrying about the bills.

Lisa Cribley and Mark Smith, whose parents moved to Jacobs Gate in Sheffield last summer, said: “When one appreciates all the amenities, facilities and staff attention that are included, the Service and Well-being Charge is worth every penny. Our parents also realised a decrease in expenses such as council tax, insurance and utilities compared to their home in King’s Lynn. We are absolutely delighted that they are now living in luxury at Jacobs Gate, with incredibly caring staff, and we cannot recommend it highly enough.”

There’s no better feeling than being warm and cosy in your own home when it’s cold and dark outside. With that in mind, all our apartments have a feature fireplace with integrated fire and are fitted with high quality, hardwearing 80% wool carpets that reduce heat loss and add a touch of luxury.

Our communities are packed with energy-saving features to help reduce homeowners’ bills, such as full thermal insulation, LED lighting, double-glazing and cost-effective all-electric heating.

Fewer worries in months ahead

Each apartment has been designed to make everyday life easier, safer and more comfortable. The fitted kitchens come with modern, energy-efficient integrated appliances, and smart meters are installed to allow homeowners to monitor their energy use.

During the winter months we appreciate warmth and support of those around us more than ever, and you’ll find it in abundance with Adlington Retirement Living. Our communities offer a safe, secure and happy environment with a circle of friends and a sense of belonging.

Joyce, a homeowner at The Chimes in Cheadle Village, said: “The whole ambience and welcoming feeling of the place is marvellous. The day I moved in I thought this is absolute bliss – and I have never stopped thinking that.”

There’s a thriving community offering new friendships, social occasions, and activities on your doorstep that you can dip into whenever the mood takes you and when you want to spend some quiet time in your own company, you have a beautiful, self-contained apartment that you can retreat to.

Philip and Edna, homeowners at The Sailings in Southport, explained: “We like the fact that here, you are completely independent, but you can enjoy the social aspect when you want to. We’re not joiners of everything. But that’s ideal, having those options. There’s a coffee morning, a knitting group, film nights, a book club; it’s nice that they’re there if you want to join in with something like that.”

We want our homeowners to relax, settle in and spend more time doing the things they love, with fewer chores and less to worry about. That’s why we’ve also introduced a two-year free energy offer* to remove the uncertainty of rising energy prices and a fixed Service and Well-being Charge for the next two years^.

Eat well, feel great

They also appreciate having a high quality restaurant at The Sailings for lunchtime meals when they don’t feel like cooking and to entertain guests. Philip said: “The cooking here suits everybody. Sometimes we have steak and we’ve enjoyed sea bass. All the desserts and the pastries are freshly baked from scratch and if you ask, they’ll make you a cake for a birthday or a special occasion. We had one for our 63rd wedding anniversary in February.”

Dr Langrish, a homeowner at The Woodlands in Heaton Mersey, said: “As I require a special, low potassium diet to support my kidney health, our Chef sat with me in the coffee lounge when I first moved into The Woodlands and listened to my permitted requirements which was very helpful and reassuring.  The staff are all marvellous. I visit the restaurant weekly and they prepare lovely lunches with puddings that I am allowed to eat and that I thoroughly enjoy.”
