Care, community and companionship throughout lockdown

Moving into an Adlington Retirement Living apartment is far more than just moving into a new home. Our communities offer a safe, secure and happy environment with a circle of friends and a sense of belonging.

In uncertain times, that’s more important than ever. Since our worlds all changed a few months ago, many of our Homeowners have told us how much it helps to have such a strong sense of community and a friendly management team on site to provide advice, assistance and moral support.

We have all found new ways to adapt in order to stay safe. Our team members have been shopping and collecting prescriptions whenever help is needed and we’ve created ‘pop-up shops’ at some developments to provide a safe and easy way to pick up everyday essentials.

During lockdown many of our Homeowners have been chatting to each other from their private balconies and patios, and our management teams have found some new ways to encourage community spirit whilst adhering to social distancing measures.

“Before lockdown I really enjoyed the movie nights, as I met other Homeowners to watch them. Since lockdown, I’m coping well and Facetime my family all the time, there’s always someone on the other end. My main lunchtime meal coming to my door, is invaluable and Laura the waitress is delightful, and has a lovely manner. The cleaning and sanitizing, and food trollies is a really good idea.” Mrs Allen, The Sailings.

Our weekly online quiz night has proven very popular, enabling Homeowners to enjoy each other’s company from the comfort of their own homes, a virtual Physiofit class offers online fun and fitness with friends, and our new gardening club at The Chimes in Cheadle ensures participants keep a safe distance from each other whilst enjoying planting out the raised beds.

“Since moving in, it’s been nice to have the company of the staff and they’ve taken care of all my needs, even doing some shopping. It’s given my son peace of mind too, as he lives in Yorkshire.” Mrs Whalley, The Cottons.
“I’ve settled in well and the team are very approachable and kind, even delivering meals direct to my door. Anything I need, I only have to ask.” Mr Graham, The Cottons.
