Homeowner discusses her love of life on the river

Joyce discusses her reason for moving to Adlington House, Otley:

“My husband and I were talking about moving closer to family a few years ago, but there wasn’t anywhere of this quality whilst we were looking.

My husband passed away two years ago, leaving me on my own to care for myself. I was quite concerned about staying in Essex as out of all of my friends, I am the fittest so should anything ever happen, there would be no-one I could call on for support. The 24-hour care provided by MHA at Adlington House was a real selling point for me.

My son visits Otley every week to visit the local butchers and noticed some signs about the new development so I asked him to get some further information and put my name down.

It was hard for me to visualise the property while in the planning stages so I arranged to visit another Adlington development in Wolstanton, Staffordshire, to get a feel for the style and facilities on offer. We visited the restaurant and were very impressed with the natural community atmosphere, it was lovely.

Once the Adlington House show apartments opened, I went along for another viewing. The development really took me by surprise, it was far better than I expected.

I’ve lived next to the river Thames all my life and it is very rare you can gain access because it is fenced off, but at Adlington House I can walk by the river, it really is a fantastic location.

It was then that I chose my beautiful two-bedroom apartment. I have a lot of hobbies so it was important that I had lots of space. The apartment is really light and bright and has a beautiful view out towards the town too.

I can’t wait to get settled in and look forward to my first Christmas in my new place. I’m looking forward to making new friends and being closer to my family.”
