Top Tips For Getting A Good Night’s Sleep

As you get older, getting a good night’s sleep becomes increasingly important – but all too often, deep rest eludes us. However, there are ways you can make sure that you do sleep well at night once you reach a certain age.
It would be wise, for example, not to drink too much tea or coffee after lunch as this could really keep you up at night. And, of course, you should try not to drink coffee at least a few hours before you go to bed or you could find yourself staring at the ceiling for hours on end instead of dreaming in the land of nod.
Getting some light exercise during the day could also help you nod off. This doesn’t have to be strenuous – it could be something as simple as going for a walk in the early evening, or just doing some gardening. Fresh air will also help you sleep well, which is certainly something to remember.
Establishing a routine and sticking to it will also prove beneficial, as your internal body clock will quickly adapt and tell you when it’s time to get up and go to bed. If you have pets, try not to sleep with them in the bedroom as they could easily keep you awake and do your best not to argue with friends and family before trying to go to sleep as your mind will be whirring and keeping you awake.
Instead, read a few chapters of a good book and have a warm drink like hot chocolate before bedtime. Try not to stare at a TV or phone screen at least two hours before bed as well.
