FAQ’s

Is it the same as a care home?

No. Our apartments are for independent living, with optional care available if needed.

What happens if their needs change over time?

We offer flexible care packages that adapt and evolve as needs may change, so your loved ones can stay in their home longer.

Do my loved ones own their apartment at Adlington?

Yes, our homeowners purchase their apartment on a long leasehold basis. It’s their property, and they retain full control over it – just like any other home.

What happens to the apartment if my loved one passes away?

The property becomes part of their estate and can be inherited or sold, just like any privately owned home. The purchaser or occupier must meet our age requirements and pass a health assessment. It is important to note the Service Charge is payable even when the apartment is empty.

Are there any fees when the apartment is sold?

Yes, we’re always transparent about our costs. At some of our communities there is a Communal Facilities Fee (CFF) which is payable upon the sale of your home, or if there is a change of occupier so you can enjoy the facilities now but pay for them later. This fee ensures that homeowners experience first-class communal facilities, today and in the future.

Full details are provided upfront, so there are no surprises.

Is this a smart financial move for my loved ones, and for us as a family?

Many families find that the peace of mind, wellbeing, and reduced need for future care offset the costs. It’s also often a way to release equity from a larger family home. Our apartments are high-quality, well-located, and hold their value well.

Can we visit the apartment or stay overnight?

Families are always welcome to visit, and guest suites are available for overnight stays at all of our communities which are complete with an en-suite shower room and kitchenette. Guests can also make use of our on-site facilities like the restaurant and coffee lounge.

How secure are the apartments?

Security is a key priority. Our communities have secure entrances, 24/7 emergency call systems, and friendly on-site teams. It’s a safe, worry-free environment for your loved ones.
